In partnership with Croydon Clinics, a company owned by local practices, About Health has been delivering tier 3 dermatology services for the population of Croydon since November 2009. The contract was awarded following a competitive tendering process. The service operates from a number of locations around Croydon to ensure excellent access for all patients using the service. Patient satisfaction is consistently high and the service manages waiting times carefully to keep them as short as possible.
About Health and Croydon Clinics ran a pilot ENT service on behalf of local commissioners to test whether a range of ENT conditions could be managed by GPSIs in community settings. Having proven its value, the service was advertised under AQP arrangements and in the summer of 2011 About Health and Croydon Clinics were successful in being approved as providers under that scheme. The ENT service manages patients with a range of conditions and works closely with consultants in the local acute Trust.
Following a competitive tendering process, About Health was awarded the contract to deliver Tier 3 dermatology services to the population of East Lancashire. The service went live in January 2011 and About Health has worked in partnership with MedAlliance, a company owned by local practices to set up and run the service. It operates from 5 locations across the area to ensure convenient access for all patients. Evening and weekend clinics are offered and this has proved very popular with patients. In what may be a unique arrangement with the local Deanery, GP Registrars with an interest in dermatology are able to undertake part of their training within our service. The service inherited a large waiting list on commencement but this was quickly tackled and waiting times are currently around 4 weeks from referral to first appointment.
